As some of you may know, I have embarked on an endeavor to lose weight, with money as a motivator. To catch you up, I am putting an amount of money into savings that would have gone directly into my personal account. If I do good things between paychecks (work out, eat healthy, etc), I gain some of that money back. If I do bad things (drink excessive alcohol, go out to eat, have ice cream, etc), I have to put back some of that money. Full details can be found here.
My first official 15-day period has ended, and boy has it been a journey. I have lost 10 pounds so far this year, which is awesome. That said, I did start the year coming off of the holidays and a vacation trip, so I won’t start getting super excited unless I begin losing weight even further. I’m on week 4 of Couch to 5K, which has been quite the challenge so far. I’ve started the last two weeks of the program thinking I wouldn’t be able to make it, but so far I’m doing alright.
Physically, I don’t feel much different. We are eating our Cook Smarts meals during the week, which has taken much of the effort out of figuring out what to eat. But, by the end of the week I am craving something bad for me (or just something I can cook of my own creation). Last Sunday, Lauryn and I went to United to get a couple pints of ice cream as a treat, and I felt rather uncomfortable after eating mine. I suppose this is a good thing, but I do hope I am still able to enjoy the foods I love after all of this is said and done.
Anyway, here is an update on my progress so far:
